BaZi chart structure
What are hidden stems in BaZi?
Hidden stems are elements stored inside the earthly branches of a BaZi
chart. They add another layer beneath the stems and branches you see first.
Why they are called hidden
A Four Pillars chart shows heavenly stems on top and earthly branches
below. Each branch can contain one or more hidden stems. They are not
visible in the simplest chart view, but many readings use them to understand
what is active below the surface.
How hidden stems affect a reading
Hidden stems can change how strong an element appears to be. They can also
add detail to Ten Gods analysis, because each hidden stem has a relationship
to the Day Master.
Why beginners should not start here
Hidden stems make more sense after you know your Day Master and the visible
Four Pillars. Start with the basic chart, then use hidden stems to refine
the reading instead of replacing it.
Calculate your BaZi chart first. Once you know the pillars, hidden stems
become easier to read.
